Remix Culture II
This week's class, we did a critique on everyone's concepts. There were a lot of interesting models that my colleagues mashed up. When it was my turn for the critique, one of the students did not like the penguin + feet that I did but she likes the heart lamp + bee wing model. Another colleague liked the Venus + Sun + Wings model and suggested that I put muscular arms on it. Now, that idea is hilarious and yes, I did try it but I did not like what it looked like so I decided to render my model as it is.
The models I have used are not at all related to each other but when I combined it to make something new, I quite like it. In Greek mythology, the Sun represents Apollo and not Venus, which is the statue model that I am using. The wings were also random, I used it for one of my previous models and just re used it for this one and it works pretty well. Last week when I was trying to finish my blog assignment, I posted a photo of this model on my Instagram story and one of my acquaintances messaged me about how she's interested on getting this tattooed. She loved the model so much that she asked for more photos for references for the tattoo artist.
Using Rhinoceros was sort of difficult. The only knowledge I had was how to divide models into separate segments. I learned few more things from class for this software but it's more experimental. For refining my model, I just changed it's color to gray and gave it a dark grey platform. I then added a spotlight. I had a few troubles figuring out how to use the spotlight but I was able to figure it out.
