Remix Culture II

This week's class, we did a critique on everyone's concepts. There were a lot of interesting models that my colleagues mashed up. When it was my turn for the critique, one of the students did not like the penguin + feet that I did but she likes the heart lamp + bee wing model. Another colleague liked the Venus + Sun + Wings model and suggested that I put muscular arms on it. Now, that idea is hilarious and yes, I did try it but I did not like what it looked like so I decided to render my model as it is. Using Rhinoceros was sort of difficult. The only knowledge I had was how to divide models into separate segments. I learned few more things from class for this software but it's more experimental. For refining my model, I just changed it's color to gray and gave it a dark grey platform. I then added a spotlight. I had a few troubles figuring out how to use the spotlight but I was able to figure it out.   The models I have used ar

Our assignment for the 2nd week of class is generating concepts by mashing up two or more objects found on Thingiverse. This assignment of mashing up objects was called Remix Culture. From what I understood, remix culture is when you get ideas from other creators to make a new idea. I had a blast remixing different designs made by other artists that I even did the rest of the assignment at home and downloaded Rhinoceros 6 in my laptop. Before I started doing the assignment, I snooped around Thingiverse to get some ideas and listed them on my notebook: Dragonfly + Bunny Honeycomb + Heart Lamp + Bee Wings Circle Pendant + Eye ball Glasses + Honeycomb Crown + Devil Horns (2 versions) Crown + Angel Wings  Candle Holder + Crystals (2 versions) Clock + Honeycomb + Clock Hands Dragon Head + Dragon Claws Sun + Wings + Venus Statue The ideas I have on red were scratched out for two reasons; only one creature is allowed for this assignment and some files were too big or too comp

The Meaningful Object

Hello I am Nicole Anne Santangelo, I go by the name Tapirot when it comes to sharing my art in public. Last Wednesday, January 9, I have a class in 3D Object Design taught by Greg Ball. For our first assignment, students were asked to watch Gary Hustwit's Objectified   and to create a virtual object inspired from the film. That day, my head was all over the place and I was not thinking straight. So while I was watching the video, I created something that did not meet the assignments requirements.  Meet Magnificent Allis-Bruticus, a 3D design inspired by my ceramic piece "Demon's Rose". I was not quite sure what I should be doing in class while I was watching the film so I just explored what I can do with Tinkercad. Making this piece was fun, however, I was not happy with the horns. I experimented with the other shapes for a bit but class was ending in a few minutes so I stopped.  When class ended and I arrived home, I read the instructions agai
