Hell week? hell week.

Life can be hell when you don't manage time very well. Speaking of hell, that's my inspiration for the first sketch I made but let me show you the wack ones first:

The Idea for this one was "an outline of each shape offseted then do the same thing again in another direction and boolean union together"

concept for the top one: made out of 6 different shapes and as the hierarchy lowers, one shape is taken away
concept for the weird line one: using lines to create the shape, they're small and ring sized or something.

Here's the best concept I have, according to my speed dates:

My peers liked this concept the most. Some feedback I got were:

  • Spirals would be cool but there are a lot of spiral inspired pieces, especially on the internet
  • Use the actual size of an eyeball 
  • No anime eyes
  • Instead of giving them a satanic symbol on their "crown", make them look evil
Here's what I started:
eyeball with some of the guts structural bone

Using pipe looks more robotic

Using sweep looks more organic


I will be adding more "guts" and sketch more details on how to make it more demonic/evil,  just not right now because honestly the other classes got the best of me and I'm not in the right mindset. I'm pretty excited with this project though. I'm just worried with the time for printing these because 20(students) x 6 (pieces of beautiful work) = HOURS OF PRINTING AND WE HAVE 3 MORE WEEKS LEFT.

I do remember the basics of Rhino but do I remember ALL of the basics? Nope. The idea behind my castle was an eye. First thing I did was drawing a shape of an eye using "Control Point Curve" and extruded it to which it became the outer wall of the castle. I wanted to make this outer wall thicker but I don't remember how and I wasn't in the Wednesday help time. This castle has 3 walls... ...unnecessary walls. For the inner wall, I used "Torus" in order for the wall to have density. I wasn't really thinking about this and I could've used "Circle", extruded the curve and then un-"capped" it so it would look more like a wall like what I did with the actual castle. But people make mistakes and I just realized it while I'm making this blog. This inner wall has a parabola-ish shaped gate. Our topic for this week was paper craft. I am familiar with this type of art because I am a fan of modular origami. Modular origami is when you combine multiple geometric units formed from multiple sheets of paper to form polygons or polyhedra.  For this week's assignment, students were told to do a research of paper craft artists who inspire them. I have more than one artist that gives me inspiration on a design I planned to make. They are: John Edmark  Raya Sader Bujana Mathew Shlian Hari and Deepti Junji Ito Couple of these artists are not paper craft artists but because of them, I have the drive to create what I want. Mandalas or Scabs (WARNING: MIGHT BE GROSS. PREPARE PUKE BUCKET)

On my previous post, I played around with the Polar Array tool in Grasshopper and got this as a result. For this week, we'll be using arrays to create a 2D parametric design. From what I have seen in other students' blogs, most of them looked like mandalas but when I looked it up on Google for some examples, most of them reminds me of scabs.  Awesome Design by Jean  Mandala I found on Google Parametric design I found on Google Scabs  So my question for myself is: "Mandalas or Scabs?" Before I answer myself that question, I looked around Youtube to see any videos about this topic, so  here's the tutorial I used for review.
